Doug enjoyed showing slide shows
and he and I had done it several times through the years at various scout
functions and so we decided to add it to our timberline course. We had several
patriotic shows put with music. “America” by Neal Diamond, “Ragged Old Flag” by
Johnny Cash, and “USA” by Lee Greenwood were just three of the songs that we
used. We would hang a white sheet in the beginning and then I found a large 10
foot screen for $10 that we used for several years after that. It was always a
very special night and I always had a greater love for America after we had
shown the slides. Doug always had great ideas and I was always impressed with
his ability to come up with more.
