Free Fishing Day June 7, 2014

Free Fishing Day means LOTS and LOTS of people
and very few fish.

But I will take the ducks, not too many of them.

Dad was helping get the new pole rigged.

The Seagull decided to take advantage of free fishing as well.
How does a fish that size fit into the belly of the gull?

The kids decided to join mom and dad at the rest stop.

A little local grass on the edge of the pond.

Three of the group that came with us had been there long enough.

When this one was finally able to cast in his line.

Local wildlife

Ben decided the deck had an advantage.

And our little friend decided the fish were probably biting over where we were.

Sam was learning how to cast, but like a lot of newbies got the tree twice.

It looks like he has the patience of a fisherman.
 Kinda.

Getting bored.

And we left, while dad was telling Sam
why he was never a fisherman either.
You gotta know how.

Father's and Sons 2014

I went with my son and grandson's to their Father's and Son's campout. It was hot to start with and during the night got pretty cold next to the river where we were in the campsite.

This was the view just 30 yards from our tents.

As if it wasn't hot enough we had to start a fire to cook our tin foil dinners and deserts.

Some of the men and boys got some fishing time in but I don't think any fish were caught.

Unwrapping the first desert, marshmellows and chocolate chips in a
waffle cone warmed inn the fire.

First sampler said it was pretty good.

The camp was not complete without the trains blowing their
horns less than a 100 yard from camp.
There was a road that they had to blow their horns for that led into camp.

Some boy time.

Partial moon and beautiful sunset clouds.

Our tent colony.

The next morning was clear and crisp including the frost on the bench.

There were also three elk having breakfast above us on the hill.

Some of the scenery near camp.

Looks like these two elk were playing hide and seek.

More fishing, same results, unless they caught some after we left.
