Visitor's from Washington

We had visitor's this weekend so
I had to stop and take a few
selfies with them.

A few videos from the campout.

The morning after kept the frozen boys near the fire
for quite some time.

(No sound recorded with the trail cam so you
will be watching old silent movies.)

Adults just chillin until it is time to turn out the lights,

Repeating the scout oath, law, motto, slogan
and outdoor code.

Brother Gary Miner came to talk to us about
our responsibilities as citizens. Miner is the one
standing with his back to the camera.
And as usual one of the boys is really paying attention
(well maybe not) back near the pavilion.
The adult is getting more wood for the fire.

Scenes of the camp from a trail cam.

I have enclosed the pavilion to make it a little warmer
where I would be sleeping. The boys were in the loft.

Zoey and Tia made a visit to the pavilion also,
Marie really helped me get ready.

A little smoke from the fires.

 After dark activities.

The morning after they were frozen in the loft.
I turned on the heater for them around 3 am.

Scenery from our 11 year olds scout hike

So I held my first winter campout with the scouts
in a long time yesterday and today.
I was kind of dreading it all week but now that
it is over it was OK even though I am very worn out tonight.
It was about 28 degrees F last night around 8:30 pm
and I am sure it got a lot colder before the morning came.
It was also very foggy this morning when we had our
five mile hike scheduled.
So it made for some fun photography
during the hike.

Just a couple of feathers in the snow.

This little fellow almost seemed suspended
in mid-air.

We had five of the scouts go on the hike.

Just wondering what the
fog crystals tasted like.

Things at the Jensen Farm.

One of the boys brother drove past while we were hiking.
He stopped, turned around and after chatting for a moment
turned again and drove on to where he had originally
been headed.

The fog was leaving the tops of the mountains free.

Geese also passed over head.

About half way through the five mile hike the boys
started to get tired. No sleep the night before can do that.

Then as we walked along Highway 89
they decided to see if people would honk.
9 in a row was the record.

We completed the hike and as I figured out
just how far we had gone the tally came
to 5.00 miles. Couldn't have planned it better.
(Of course I only roughly planned it
and took a few detours from what I did have planned
but it still worked out perfect.)
