How many children have you had?

Six, with six spouses and nine soon to be 10 grandchildren added to the family.

What are their names, birthdays, birthplaces?

See the blog posted on Novemebr 21, 2010.

How did you feel when you found out you were going to be a father for the first time?

Shocked, especially since it happened so soon after we were married. However I had been looking forward to the time that I would become a father so I was also very excited. I was excited each time we found out we were going to have another one and regretted the day we had to stop. It was quite different too for us since we did not get to know the gender of the child until you were born. Plans for rooms and decorating always waited until after the birth of each of you.

June 20, 2011 Happy 36th Anniversary

What advice would you give to your children or grandchildren on their wedding day?

Well since each of you are married and I don’t remember any advice that I gave you then I guess I’ll have to give some now that will apply to you as well as your children. My advice is simple. Look closely at some one you are planning to marry and inspect them with the greatest of detail and then once married throw all of your notes away and just love them as best as you can. Forget all of your close friends and make your spouse your closest friend. That doesn’t mean you can’t have friends it just means you don’t frequently call them or confide in them about any of your personal matters in your marriage. Never put them before your spouse, never flirt with them if they are of the opposite gender, never let them be more important than your spouse. Look for ways each day to compliment them on things that they do and always support them in their church callings.

What do you admire most about her?

Her ability to work with people and her willingness to put all of her effort into her church callings even when other are far less committed. Her ability to love and her love for our children, their spouses and our grandchildren.

Tell a favorite story or two about her.

I could go on for a longtime about stories about her but will tell just this one for now.
As she admitted last night (as we were coming home from Roy’s wedding reception to Britt and Jeff ) when she first had a crush on me she would ride her bike up to my home ad stop along the road and hide behind the trees on the road as she would watch me working the hay. The one time I remember seeing her was when I was raking the hay in the filed just west of the house. A movement on the road caught my attention and as I watched I could see Marie and Trudy Childs on bikes up on the road. They later talked to me before they returned home.

These entries are actually being made after the date of the title when they were suppose to be made,I am just catching up.

How would you describe your wife now?

Marie is even more beautiful now than when we married. She is full of special talents and has an ability to love and make friends. We have recently ended a five plus year calling at BYU where she was greatly loved by nearly everyone of the Young Single adults that we worked with. The only reason it wasn’t a 100% of them is because we didn’t get to have time enough with some of them to get to know even who they were or they too would have had the same special feelings for her. She is so fun to have with me when we do family and wedding photos. There have been countless times that at each wedding someone would come u and compliment us on our ability to work together and how Marie was such an important part of that as she has such a unique ability to get people to smile for my camera. She is also a very hard worker and can work circles around me as she gets going early everyday and keeps going just like an Ever-ready battery.

How long have you been married?
June 20, 2011 was our 36th wedding anniversary. We hiked with Brittany and Alex to the Grotto waterfalls in Payson canyon and then that night went on a date to a movie, “Kung Fu Panda 2”. We will be adding that to our collection.

Where have you most enjoyed living?

It must be pretty obvious that we like Mapleton since we have only left it for 6 weeks, to live in Spanish Fork, in 36 years of marriage.

Why are you living where you are today?

We are still living in the home we had built in 1983. We moved in on July 24th and even though the house and yard have had changes it is still the home we love and don’t ever want to leave if possible.
