Timberline: Sleepy Scoutmaster

Timberline: Sleepy Scoutmaster
(Timberline part 9)
I served one year with another Scoutmaster after Doug and I had done it together for several years. This scoutmaster, whom I won’t name, was a lot of fun to serve with but I found myself having been glad for the experience of helping Doug for all of those years. We had a great camp but it seemed that every time we needed the Scoutmaster he was asleep in his tent. Well it was good that it was Timberline since the whole direction of that program was for the boys to run the camp while the Scoutmasters just sat back and watched (or carved) during the activities and lessons. As Scoutmasters we were supposed to teach the staff how for the six months prior to camp and once we got to camp we turned everything over to the Senior Patrol Leader and his staff. That was what I really grew to love about the camp as the years kept going and I had involvement with it. I have seen a lot of young men learn to be leaders and to take charge with the perfect capability of any adult. Let the SM sleep because camp will go on just as well anyway.
